Bengaluru: BJP state President, party’s CM candidate and Lingayat strongman BS Yeddyurappa is reportedly in two minds about contesting upcoming polls, specifically after Party’s Chief Ministerial candidate for Himachal Pradesh, Prem Kumar Dhumal suffered shocking defeat in the recently concluded polls.

The confusion has sent BJP’s central leadership to tizzy because the crucial poll in this key state is only a few months away.

BJP wants to plant its victory flag in Congress-ruled Karnataka and it is going all out to get this plan materialised. The decision of face of BJP in the state to stay away from polls has left the party in lurch.

BSY is the key leader of the BJP in Karnataka and has been declared as the CM candidate by the party. He is also the major factor to maintain BJP’s massive support base-the Lingayat community which always plays a decisive role in state politics.

With BSY reportedly speaking out his mind to central leadership, the party seems to be in a fix.

Sources say that BSY might campaign across the state to garner support for the BJP. If the party wins the polls and declares him chief minister, the 75-year old will have six months to get himself elected as an MLC. That would also prevent a bypoll for the Shimoga parliamentary constituency as Lok Sabha polls will follow soon.
