Mangaluru: The bus conductor’s body which remained untraced in Kumaradhara River from the past three days was finally found on Wednesday, September 28. The search operation led by a team of expert divers which began on September 25 evening was hampered due to incessant rains in surrounding areas.
Devdas Shetty (47), a conductor in the KSRTC bus plying from Mangaluru to Subrahmanya temple had an altercation with a woman passenger on Sunday, September 25. The issue was settled at Kadaba police station where it is learnt that the police humiliated him by asking him to strip his clothes during investigation. Soon after, Shetty jumped off the moving bus into Kumaradhara River from a bridge. He left a death note on his trip sheet, which read: “It is better to die than live, after being humiliated. Goodbye to all my colleagues”.
A missing complaint was registered at Subrahmanya police station. Meanwhile, Shetty’s son Pavan has sought a thorough investigation into the incident. He accused, that “harassment and Insult” by the police at Kadaba police station over giving change to a woman had led his father to take the extreme step.
