Moodbidri: Prakash Bhandari, the father of a juvenile accused in the case of  attempt to rape a minor girl at Puttige, has  said that his son has not erred but has only dropped the girl to her home on July 27.

Speaking to reporters here, Prakash alleged that he and his son have been victimised over the issue of a property dispute with locals. He further said his son’s name was once even recommended for bravery award as he at the age of 8 had rescued two girls who were drowning in the lake.

It may be recalled here that the boy who was arrested on the charges of attempting to sexually assault a seven year old girl at Nelligude,  was released on bail by the District Sessions Court.

The girl’s family had earlier lodged a complaint with the police alleging that the boy had  followed the girl who was returning to her grandmother’s house after tuition on July 27 and had dragged her to an isolated place where he tried to sexually assault her.

The boy who was in judicial custody has now been released.
