Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, on Wednesday, May 6, directed the officials of the health department to find the source of the spread Covid-19 at the First Neuro Hospital in Padil, and send a detailed report in this regard to the government.
Convening an emergency meeting after the district witnessed three more positive cases of Covid-19 today, he asked the health department to find out the source of the spread. An expert team should be formed and a report should be submitted to the government soon, he said.
District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Ramachandra Bayari informed that the contacts of all the patients at First Neuro Hospital have been traced and that the health department would definitely find the source.
Meanwhile, Minister Kota informed that appropriate measures have already been taken to transport the migrant labourers to their villages. A total of 11,000 migrant labourers have already been sent back to their native villages. The final batch of migrant labourers will go from the district on Thursday, he added.
Two-way passes for those conducting marriages
During the same meeting, a decision was taken to provide inter-district two-way passes for those who conduct marriages.
Garment stores to open from Tomorrow
During the meeting, Minister Kota also informed that garment shops will be opened from Thursday, but trial rooms are allowed. However, malls are still not permitted to open, he added.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, who was also present at the meeting, emphasised the need to maintain social distancing as the number of Covid-19 cases is still on the rise in the district. People should cooperate with the district administration, he added.
