Newskarnataka – Moodbidri

Moodbidri: “The Congress workers are strong enough.  I will get your limbs broken by them. You should beg alms for a living….” this is not a threatening call made by any  criminal or rowdy but  a call reportedly made by Moodbidri MLA and State Minister for Youth Services Abhayachandra Jain   to journalist Yashodhara  V Bangera.

The case : Yashodhara V Bangera’s reports on ‘Niddodi’ on the basis of information secured through RTI  were published in a newspaper and  some websites.Accordingly, on Thursday May 1 at around 6.30 pm  Bangera had telephoned Abhayachandra Jain to  know his reaction to the recent developments on the Niddodi plant. The Minister who received the call, reportedly began to threaten the journalist stating that copies of the newspaper  would be burnt in Moodbidri.

This development has irked residents of Moodbidri who strongly feel that it was not proper on the part of the minister to try to suppress the freedom of the Press instead of standing in support of the people of Niddodi who are against the project.
