Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim, who is also the Chairman of Regional Transport Authority, has passed orders revising the minimum auto fare to Rs 25. The revised fare has come to effect on Friday January 15.
The fare has been revised taking into consideration the rise in fuel cost, spare parts and insurance among others in addition to a steep rise in essential commodities including grocery, Ibrahim stated.
As per the new fare, minimum fare for the first 1.5 km is Rs 25 for a maximum of three passengers. For every kilometre thereafter, fare is fixed at Rs 13.
Waiting charges will not be applicable for the 15 minutes, while 25 percent of the fare is to be paid for the next 45 minutes. Luggage charges would not be applicable for the first 20 kg but will be charged Rs 2 per every extra kilo. For travel from 10 pm – 5 am, charges are fixed at one and half times the normal fare.
The DC informed the driving license details of the auto rickshaw driver has to be attached with his photograph behind his seat. Auto rickshaws having license to operate within the city can charge 1.5 times the above fare after crossing the city limits.
