MG Hegde criticises Union Minister Moily for favouring Yettinahole project

Mangalore: Social activist MG Hegde has criticised Union Minister Veerappa Moily for his comments in favour of Yettinahole  project.

Speaking to reporters  here on January 22, Wednesday,  he alleged that Moily was initiating this project for his own political interests and that  he has not addressed to the concerns of the people in the coastal region with regards to the project.

 Stating that even former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda was confused about the project,  MG Hegde said  the project would be strictly opposed and that they will not allow it to be implemented at any cost. He also requested political  leaders irrespective of their party affiliations to join the cause.

 M G Hegde informed that few like-minded environmental organizations and citizens will hold a protest at Freedom Park in Bangalore against the Yettinahole or Netravati River Diversion Project on January 28.There will also be protests in Uppinangady against this project on January 24.

Suresh Shetty, V R Puthran, Anitha Shivaraj, Shashikala, Dinesh Shetty and others were present.
