Menace of thieves gives sleepless nights to Bantwal residents

Bantwal :The menace of thieves has been on the rise in Bantwal taluk in the recent days. On September 4, Wednesday night several vain attempts to burgle have been reported from different places in Kolnadu village.

In one case, thieves who stole a Bajaj Pulsar bike owned by Salettur Siraj which was parked behind the Kolnad Panchayat Office later  abandoned it on the roadside a little distance away. An attempt was also made to burgle three houses in the village the same night.

Thieves who gained entry into the house of one Abdul Hakim at Padaru Junction in Kudtamugeru at around 1.45 am on Wednesday by breaking open the rear doors however could not find anything. They also entered the house of Hameed  at Karai in a similar fashion and broke open two almirahs and robbed a cash of Rs 2000. Later, they entered yet another house of Haji Usman at Salettur Tamaraje but  had to take their heels when the occupants of the house awoke on hearing the sound.

The serial thefts reported within three days of a vain attempt to burgle Kudtamugeru Co-operative Bank has panicked residents of the area. The police have formed a special squad led by Additional SP Shivakumar to nab the thieves.
