Medical report confirms driver sexually abused 4-year old

Mangaluru: The bus driver accused of sexually abusing a four -year-old LKG girl was remanded to judicial custody for 15 days on Saturday, and the medical report too confirmed the act, sources in the police said.

Police have arrested the accused Madhukar Shetty is a resident of Kumpala, under the provisions of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012.

On Friday, tension prevailed in Ullal police station limits after a minor girl was allegedly sexually abused by a school van driver. He was arrested as soon as the police received the compliant from the girl’s parents.

After the arrest, some public gathered in the area and started pelting stones. Police had to resort to caning to disperse the mob.

The mob did not even spare police and their vehicles, and a couple of other vehicles bore the brunt of the attack. Though the situation could have flared up, police showed restraint in controlling the situation and dispersed the mob which had gathered inside a religious place after talks.

Police said the girl, who was dropped last, complained that the driver misbehaved with her. This happened at 12.30pm. The girl was studying in a private nursery school near Thokkottu. The school is run by a retired ADGO of police. Initially, the school authorities denied the allegations. The girl had bruises on her private parts, the family had claimed.
