Mangaluru: As per the Central government guidelines, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited (MCF) and Unique Waste Processing Company have made a tripartite agreement regarding the solid waste compost fertilizer management and sale.

Speaking to the mediapersons, Mayor Harinath said that, Unique Waste Processing Company was struggling to sell the solid waste compost fertilizer till date, as they were marketing and selling it to agriculturists only. But now, as per the new guidelines of Central government, MCF has agreed to buy the fertilizer.
MCC Commissioner Dr H N Gopalkrishna said, “The cost of production of solid waste is very high. So, it was difficult to sell the fertilizers. Now MCF will pay a sum of Rs 2500-3000 per ton of fertilizer. The Central government will give MCF a subsidy of Rs 1500 per ton, and MCC will get revenue of Rs 1000 per ton.”
He further said that, it is an important mile stone in solid waste management sector. We are very much thankful to Central government and MCF for making this possible.
Congress leader Shashidhar Hegde, MCF officials and Unique Waste Processing Company officials were present.
