Mangaluru: The first restaurant of McDonald’s in Dakshina Kannada was flagged off at Forum Fiza Mall, Pandeshwar, here on Wednesday.
Ranjit Paliath, McDonald’s India (west and south) vice-president, business operations, inaugurated the outlet along with Ritika Verma, head of corporate communications, McDonald’s India (west and south) and Ronald McDonald, the mascot for McDonald’s.
Speaking on the occasion Ranjit Paliath said, “We have given importance to food safety and 72 security protocols are conducted daily in the restaurant and around 2000 checks are done on the food suppliers. Annually, we conduct over 25,000 security checks and protocols.”
Through Connaught Plaza Ltd for the north and east regions and Hardcastle Restaurants Pvt Ltd for the west and south regions, McDonald’s has been in India for 18 years. The first restaurant in India was set up in 1996. There are segregations like vegetarian and non-vegetarian cooking spaces and we have a menu to suit local tastes. Beef and pork are not served throughout the Indian chain, he added.
The restaurant presently offers a basic range of McDonald’s products, with new products lined up to be introduced soon. There is a dessert kiosk also present at this restaurant.
