Mangaluru: If all goes according to the plans, a huge sports complex will be set up in the outskirts of the city. Mayor Mahabala Marla said that the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) is planning to set up a sports complex on 100 acre land at Kenjar, which is little over 20kms from Mangaluru.
The complex will have a cricket ground, athletics track and other facilities, Mr. Marla told the audience during the state-level flood-lit swimming competition, which was organized by Mangala Swimming Club, as part of its silver jubilee.
On the construction of another swimming pool, which was another demand by the public, he said that the MCC does not have enough land to construct a swimming pool. “If government provides land, the MCC is ready to bear the construction cost”, he added.
Earlier, there was a plan to convert the deer park in Kadri into a swimming pool. However, the idea could not be materialized due to technical reasons. But, there is a proposal to build an international standard swimming pool near Pandeshwar, he added.
