Mayor Mahabala Maarla promises all round development of Mangalore

Mangalore: Mangalore Mayor Mahabala Maarla has said that the city corporation would take early steps to construct footpaths  wherever they are lacking on the concretised roads. He has also informed that the  several circles in the city including Kankanady, Mallikatta and PVS Circles would be developed in a scientific manner.

Interacting with the media at a Meet the Press programme  organised by the DK District Working Journalists Union at the Press Club here on Tuesday May 13, the Mayor also gave details on the various developmental programmes chalked out for the city.

He assured all out efforts to redress public grievances and ensure basic infrastructural facilities for a better living. Stressing the need for MCC officials to visit  under construction sites at least once a month, he also said facilities at Mangalore One Centres would be upgraded. Even tax payment procedure will be computerised, the Mayor informed.

Ensuring all possible measures to check the spread of Malaria, he also directed all laboratories to report to the MCC any case of Malaria detected lest legal action would follow.

Mahabala Maarla further  emphasised the need for development of underground drainage system.All public taps would be disconnected  and  efforts would be made to see that all houses have tap water connections, Maarla further added.

 Stating that the MCC would also accord priority to beautify the city, Maarla said  interested people would be  allowed to beautify the roadsides wherever possible. A separate committee would be formed, he said. Those constructing buildings of 20,000 square feet and above will  have to utilise 2 per cent of their profit towards  developmental works as part of Corporate Social Responsibility. A project would also be formulated to see that all firms and industries earning a profit of above Rs 5 crores will  spend a portion of their profit for development,, he said.
