Liquor sale banned across state on counting day

Bangalore : Sale and supply of liquor has been banned throughout the state with effect from May 15 midnight to  May 16 midnight in view of the counting of votes to be held on May 16.

A press communiqué from the Police Department says  liquor sale is banned in all restaurants, hotels and clubs in Bangalore and elsewhere in the state in order to ensure maintenance of law and order on counting day. Those violating the directive will face strict legal action, the communiqué has warned.

Excise department personnel will be   patrolling  various places to ensure that the rule was followed.

The counting of votes will begin at sharp 8 am on May 16. The state had seen single phase elections on April 17.
