Mathematics National Seminar Begins at Mahaveera College

Moodbidri: Mathematics is the basis for all sphere of development that has to be implemented with transparence and fin organized manner, said Mangalore University vice chancellor Professor Shivashankaramurti.

Professor Shivashankaramurti was speaking after inaugurating UGC sponsored national level two-day seminar on mathematics at Mahaveera College, here.  It was organized by Mangalore University commerce lecturers Association.

He further said that the mathematicians of our country have submitted a report to union human resources department in 2012, in order to form uniform mathematics studies in all universities. It is a significant development in incorporating the report in studies.  In the pre-Independence era there were 45 universities and during Independence it was 100, now there are 720 universities, a significant growth indeed, said Professor Shivashankaramurti.

Nearly 20 crore students are enrolling in education sphere, while only 2 crore pass out with degrees, he expressed deep concern.

Nityanand N, chartered accountant FKCCI and FICC central taxes Commmittee deputy advisor, in his keynote address said that there lies a greater need to incorporate western mathematics methods with Indian methods at the changed times, in order to provide accurate information to shareholders and to be transparent and authentic data that is trustful. The simplicity in mathematics, clarity and similarities can be highlighted by mathematicians, in issuing reports to interested investors and companies. If these efforts are being done, the frauds in investments can be curbed, said Nityanand.

Mahaveera College governing council vice president Sampat Samrajya presided the programme.

Dr Krishna, Professor Karunakar Nayak, Mahaveer Pre-University College principal Professor Govindappa and others were present on the occasion.

The College authorities felicitated Professor Shivashankaramurti on his maiden visit to Mahaveera College.

Mahaveera College principal Professor H Chandrashekar Dixit welcomed the gathering. The assistant convener Dr Vaman Baliga introduced the dignitaries. Nalini compered the programme.The chief convener Professor Azad Ahmed proposed vote of thanks.
