Moodbidri : An ex-serviceman of Moodbidri Karunaker Poojari has alleged that the Milan Community Hall at Mastikatte in Pranthya village was unauthorisedly permitting  marriage and other functions in the hall despite  the local administration  cancelling the licence of the hall.

He has urged the district administration and the police to initiate action against the Hall owners for violation of rule.

Speaking to reporters here, he said  the Dining Hall and lavatory of the marriage hall was constructed unauthorisedly. Moreover  the lavatory  has been constructed in an unscientific manner with no arrangement for disposal of  waste water. The hall has also resulted in environment as well as sound pollution, he said adding  the effluents released from the marriage hall have  even contaminated local well waters.

He pointed out that following a complaint lodged with the TMC it had cancelled the licence of the hall on October 23, 2013.

Prema Salian, Councillor and Mohandas Shetty were also present at the press meet.

Meanwhile, reacting on the issue, TMC Chief Officer Rayappa said  the Hall owners have  made an appeal against cancellation of licence  and  have even requested to test the water of a nearby well as well as another well owned in the area by them. The officer  said the water has been sent for lab test and action will follow on the basis of  the report.
