Kasargod: One man’s presence of mind averted a major rail accident on Tuesday morning near Chauki here.

A temporary staff of the CPCRI identified as Mohommed noted that the railway track and separated at a particular point.
Noticing this, even though he was nearing a Madrasa where he had to drop his two kids, Mohommed returned home, brought a red piece of cloth and passed on danger signal to the Tiruvananthapuram-Mangaluru Maveli Express locomotive driver.
The driver stopped the train on time and thus a major train tragedy was averted.
The railway personnel who rushed to the spot later rectified the problem and set it right temporarily.
