Mangaluru: Our country is a Democratic country. In this country, the people are the masters. This means that from the day of his birth, every child grows up to be a citizen. But after attaining the age of 18, the people should include his/her name in the voters’ list to establish his or her right, said Deputy Commissioner Ravikumar M. R.

He was speaking after inaugurating the footmarch or walkathon as part of Matadarara Patti Parishkarane – 2023 jointly organised by the Dakshina Kannada District Administration and Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat at The University College here on Thursday November 24. He added, “Every citizen must exercise his or her right to vote for the future of Democracy. We all have to cooperate to bring in a good and Democratic Government in this country in terms of security. At the time of elections, many people who had completed 18 years of age had not registered their names in the voters’ list. Thus, the next young generation of our country should register their names in the voters’ list for the better future of the country,” he advised.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kumar and other officials participated in the programme. Thousands of college students participated in the footmarch at the event.
