Mangaluru: With the Facebook office not responding positively to the queries of the Mangaluru police in connection to some outrageous communal posts being put up on the FB pages, it is believed that the Mangaluru Police is now contemplating to raid the FB office in Bengaluru. As per sources, the officials working for the company in Bengaluru may be pulled up legally.

There are increasing number of instances of derogatory posts being put up on FB and individuals subsequently complaining about such posts. These posts are often put up by opening bogus FB pages. However, due to lack of information, probing these cases has become a difficult task for the police.

As per sources, the police had got cold response from FB office in Bengaluru pertaining to derogatory post on Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari. The incident had evoked sharp criticism from various quarters and the cops needed crucial inputs from the FB officials, which was not available.

It is said that two letters were sent to the FB office from Mangaluru Commissionerate with regard to the case and both the letters evoked no response.

Though there are talks that the department is planning to send notices to the office of the FB and then raid the same, Mangaluru police commissioner Chandrashekar has said that no details on the same can be revealed. However, the priority of the police is to maintain law and order and as far as status and comments that can rake up communal ill-feeling is concerned, such posts would be tracked down.
