Mangaluru: Mangalore University for the second consecutive year is all set to showcase its facilities and postgraduate courses with an aim to attract students.
Addressing a press meet on Wednesday, Prof K.Byrappa, Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University said that, like last year, the open house is aimed at showcasing the facilities in the departments and activities being carried out by the faculty and the research scholars. The mile stones and important contributions of the department, extramural funding from national and international funding agencies, industries sponsored programmes and avenues and opportunities after completing the course will also be highlighted at the open house.
Prof Byrappa said, “This is an innovative programme and is being organized to provide firsthand information to prospective students, parents and guardians about facilities, faculty achievement and the job opportunities offered by each course. The theme of the programme is “Come and see your Campus” with 24 P.G.Departments, University Library and other central facilities”.
The Vice chancellor said that the students and their parents will have an opportunity to know the department of their choice in person and get better information about it. Information about the library and information systems, computing facilities such as CARRT, MICROTRON, PURSE, CARER, Sports facilities and the kind of Hostel accommodation will be available.
It’s an opportunity for the parents to visit the University campus and know about the courses offered, the department concerned and also meet some of the teaching staff.
The 2nd open house programme will be held from July 15 to 19 and will highlight the activities of various post-graduate courses. Deputy Commissioner A.B.Ibrahim will inaugurate the programme at 10.30 am on July 15 at the MBA Seminar Hall at Mangalagangothri Campus.
Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar will be the Guest of honour and is likely to release information brochure on different PG courses offered in Mangalore University.
