Mangalore : In a tragic incident, a nine year old boy was electrocuted when his hands came into contact with a high voltage transformer located next to his house on May 25, Saturday. The mishap took place on May 25, Saturday evening.

The deceased boy is Nadeem, son of Abdul Sattar, owner of the Husna Mansion at Kudupady Road, Marnamikatta.  There was an electric transformer close by his house and was enclosed in  grills.  However the fact that the transformer was within an arm’s distance from anyone climbing the grill, revealed the lackadaisical approach of the MESCOM authorities.

It is learnt, the boy who was playing had climbed on to the grill and had touched the transformer resulting in instant death. It is learnt, the hand of Nadeem was severed from the rest of the body due to the impact of the electrocution and the severed part was retrieved by the MESCOM personnel who arrived later on.

Nadeem was a fourth standard student at Attavar Sarojini Madhusudan Kushe School.

Pandeshwar police have registered a case.
