Mangalore: A man jumped to death from the fourth floor of Yenepoya Hospital at Kodialbail in the city on Wednesday January 29.

The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Latheesh Poojary, a resident of Madoor near Kotekar. He allegedly jumped from the window of the ICU located on the fourth floor of the hospital.

It is learnt, he was  under-going treatment in the hospital, as he had earlier attempted suicide after consuming  poison along with liquor. A friend of his had first admitted him to Wenlock. However, he was later shifted to Yenepoya Hospital on January 28, as his family was not satisfied with the treatment at the Government Hospital.
However, during the early hours of Wednesday morning, Latheesh Poojary who was said to be in the ICU, jumped to death.

Relatives of the deceased alleged that medical negligence, possibly in the administration of anaesthesia, had caused mental imbalance in Poojary. They also alleged hospital has deployed no security staff in the ICU premises.
A case of unnatural death has been registered.
