Bantwal: A 24-year-old accused in a case who failed to appear before court despite several warrants has been arrested by the Bureau of Imigration officials and was handed over to Vittal police here on Wednesday, April 27.
Ismail Asif from Mandiyur in Kanyana is the arrested.
In March 17, 2014 he was arrested on charges of torture, assault and threatening his wife. He was out on bail and had escaped to foreign country. Even after issuing four warrants he failed to appear before the court.
District police superintendent Dr Sharanappa had issued Lookout Circular(LOC) on February 16 and hand him over to the department.
On wednesday, soon after he arrived from Dubai at the Mangaluru Airport, he was arrested by the immigration officers and handed him over to Vittal police.
Vittal police sub-inspector Prakash Devadiga, assistant sub-inspector Kittu Moolya and staff Chidananda Rai and Anukumar led team took him into custody.
He was produced before Bantwal JMF Court and has been sent to judicial custody.
