Mangaluru: The District and Sessions Court Judge convicted a 33-year-old man under Arms Act for illegally possessing a pistol.

Bhaskar alias Babu, a resident of Kaliya Sasihithlu, Haleangadi was illegally possessing a 7-inch pistol without a licence and was arrested by police from HMC waybridge in Surathkal on 15 November 2010.

The court after recording 6 evidences has pronounced the accused as guilty for possessing illegal arm with criminal intention.

The court convicted him under Indian Arms Act and sentenced him to 5 years of rigorous imprisonment and Rs 10,000 fine. Failure to pay the fine will invite 30 additional days in jail.
