Puttur: The Second Additional District Sessions Court had convicted Ramesh Naik, who was a bank manager in a case of murder of his own two children. He has been awarded death sentence, the verdict was pronounced on Tuesday December 3.

The Judge T J Shivashakare Gowda termed the case as the rarest of the rare and said that the accused deserved no mercy.

The Tumkur Sessions Court has already sentenced Naik to life imprisonment in the case of killing his sister in law Savitha and mother-in-law Saraswathi on October 15,2010 whereas now after the murder of his children the court decided that no leniency must be shown towards the convict and awarded him death penalty.

The accused had taken his two children who stayed with his wife Sundari in Mangalore and had pushed them to a lake at Ardha Moole in Panaje village of Putur taluk. After the murder, he had stayed in a lodge in the town.

The accused had later sent an SMS to his wife Sundari, an SBI employee saying, “No one should search for me Bhuvan, Kritika, Savitha and Saraswathi who are in heaven. I wanted to take you too. But I could not. You find a well with water and jump into it.”

He had then sent another message saying “No one should find our bodies. We do not have a land of our own for cremation and none to perform Uttarakriya.”

His SMS’s proved as an evident against him, and he was held.
