Puttur: A man from Kapinabagilu in Kaukrady village of Uppinangady has been arrested on the charges of setting his wife ablaze after pouring kerosene over her. The arrested man is Bernard Monteiro. His wife Rosyln (40) has been admitted to a hospital in Mangalore with severe burn injuries.

The incident had taken place on July 7, Sunday when Bernard had brought home pork from the market and directed his wife to immediately prepare a pork dish. However, when Roslyn did not obey his orders, he picked up a kerosene can and poured its contents over her and then set her on fire.

Rosyln is now battling for life in the hospital. Investigations are underway.
