Mangaluru: The Malenadu Janahita Rakshana Vedike has demanded that the government waive off all farmers’ loans if they are going to go ahead and open the liquor stores.
There is a rumour in the district that the government is planning to open the liquor stores as they have been incurring huge losses during the lockdown.
Malenadu Janahitha Rakshana Vedike convener Kishore Shirady demanded that if the government can opens liquor shops, it should waive off all loans of the farmers. Many farmers have been driven to the point of suicide as they are not able to earn much due to the lockdown. He argued that if the government opens liquor shops, they will consume liquor and their situation will deteriorate further.
