Madikeri: Union Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily has finally put an end to all the speculations about Aadhaar card being mandatory to obtain subsidised cooking gas (LPG).

Addressing the gathering during the 150th birth anniversary of Field Marshal K M Cariappa on Tuesday January 29, Moily confirmed that Aadhaar card was not mandatory to acquire subsidised LPG.

He also said that the oil PSUs (public sector undertakings) had been directed to give subsidised LPG to even those customers who did not possess the unique identification number. Admitting that there was  a lot of confusion, he said a decision as above was taken  last week to put an end to the same. A circular will soon be issued to all the agencies, he added.
