Lover nabbed in woman’s murder case in Kotekar

Kotekar: In a brisk operation, the Ullal police nabbed a man in connection to the recovery of a decomposed body of a woman at Kacharu-Madoor near Kotekar in Ullal area.

The woman identified as Shobha (24) from Shimogga was found dead in a wooded area and in connection to this her lover Muthappa from Badami has been nabbed.

The body was first spotted by a local who was venturing into the secluded area to answer nature’s call. Though the dead body could not be identified initially, the locals recognised her through the blue night gown that she was wearing.

It is said that, Shobha, a married woman had abandoned her husband about a year ago and had started living on the roadsides at Kuloor, where she met Muthappa. The latter got Shobha to live with him and rented house at Asiya Compound in Beeri, about four months ago.

Both have been heavy alcoholics and the two fighting with each other in a drunken stupor was a common scene.

It is said that on the night of Monday February 8, a quarrel erupted between the couple and in a fit of rage, Muttappa banged Shobha’s head against a wall, which killed her.

He must have disposed the body off and got back to work as usual.

On Wednesday evening, when the body of recovered, Muthappa was working as a coolie in Kolya.

During the interrogation, he is said to have confessed to the crime.
