Kasargod: Driver of a lorry died while the cleaner suffered severe injuries after their lorry ran down gorge, at a curve near Panjigaru near Majibail in Manjeshwara on Tuesday.

The deceased is Prakash (38), resident of Mangalpady Pulikuttil. Cleaner of the vehicle is Sharief (32). He has been rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru.

The lorry laden with laterite stones was plying from Miyapadu to Hosangadi when the driver lost control over the vehicle. The lorry ran down 60 ft gorge and turned turtle, crushing the driver underneath.

Though the driver and the cleaner were both retrieved from the mangled remains and rushed to hospital, Prakash died on the way.

Manjeshwar police have registered a case.
