Lorry hits train near Payyanur; driver escapes unhurt

Kasargod: A lorry that was trying to cross a path across the railway track got entangled with a running train near the Ezhimala railway station near Payyannur on   March 4, Tuesday evening  at around 6.30 pm.

Fortunately the lorry driver jumped out of the vehicle and escaped unhurt, when he saw the Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Parasuram Express train approaching towards him.

The Railway officials said that the accident occurred as the path was unauthorized.Train services were disrupted for a while as the truck got entangled with the pantry car and some coaches behind it.

No casualties have been reported. The lorry was removed from the spot using a JCB excavator. Senior Railway officials  rushed to the spot.
