Maddoor: The parents and students of a state-run higher primary school protested by locking the school, while on the other hand, the men and women protested by carrying empty vessels on their head owing to acute shortage of drinking water in Adaganahalli, near here. The school has reopened a month ago, while a lone teacher is only managing the classes from I to VII with a total strength of 70 students.  It  is a pity of the hapless teacher, said youth leader Dhanu.

The admissions have already begun at the school.  The lone teacher has to manage the office, cooking for mid-day hot meals for the students, accept applications inclusion of names in voters list etc.  The lone teacher gets hardly any time to teach the lessons for different classes.

The protesters urged the block education officer to appoint more teachers at the earliest and cautioned of massive protest if there is further delay in this regard.

Empty vessels protest:

The transformer in the locality has gone out of order since over a month, owing to which the motor pump that was fetching the water to overhead tanks for general distribution has stalled.  It has triggered the dearth of drinking water to the locals at this peak summer.
