Moodbidri: The locals protested by laying roadblocks in Kadandale village that comes under the limits of Paladka gram panchayat, against illegal crusher operated by Pops Rock Mine in government land at Murtugudde, Kadandale village.


The villagers protested alleging that the crusher unit has been functioning in a private plot of 1.90 acre at Murtugudde in Kadandale village since the past 20 years. The crusher owners have encroached upon state-owned adjacent several acres of land to dump jelly and tons of baby jelly, besides its powder. Several trees that were located in state-owned land perished owing to pollution caused by crusher. The officials of forest, mining and geology department including Tahsildar inspected the location after the villagers complained to the concerned authority.
Addressing the media persons, Swami Esha Vittaldas of Kemar Sadhanashram said that he has arrived at the spot, to avoid consequences on laying the roadblocks by the villagers. He sought the explanation over transporting the jelly that was stored in state-owned land by dumper trucks, whether it belonged to state authorities.
The rural police arrived on the spot and cleared the roadblock for easing the traffic.
The local leaders Santosh Shetty, Skanda Prasad Bhat, Chandrashekar Devadiga, Leeladar Poojary, Harish Amin and others led the protest on the occasion.
