Sullia: The locals held protest on Saturday demanding repair of the Gurunpu road in Gandhinagar in Sullia and also proper drainage system.
The road from Gandhinagar to Nagapattana bridge is in pathetic condition, which needs immediate repair, they demanded.
The 12th and 14th ward have no basic facilities. The Payaswini river is polluted due to waste of poultry farms in in the area and polluted water. The ward representatives have not responded to our repeated pleas to provide a proper drianage system, they alleged.
The locals protested along with Aam Aadmi Party members.
Abdul Basheer Bandu, Shamshuddin, Kareem Paimbachal, Musthafa, Junaid, Riyaz, Rasheed Jattipalla, Ashok Yedamale, Ramakrishna Beeramangala of AAP were present.
Meanwhile, protest was called off after Sullia town panchayath president Prakash Hegde arrived to the spot and assured the protesters of taking action at the earliest.
He also inspected various areas along with officials and directed to clean the drains.
