Karkala: A villager named Kanbettu Belku Shetty has complained that an illegal huge poultry farm operating in a residential area at Kanbettu Bailumane of Kuchchur village was creating problems for the locals.

He has  alleged that the foul smell emanating from the poultry farm owned by Biju MM of Kerala and having over 3000 chickens was creating problems for locals. He has pleaded the authorities to immediately vacate the poultry farm from the area. 

Speaking to reporters at a press meet held at Nayak restaurant in Hebri he said that around 50 houses in the area are affected by the illegal farm. Shetty also alleged that Biju has illegally drawn power connection from his house to the farm and urged for action by the local panchayat as well as MESCOM Vigilance Squad.

Except serving a notice to the poultry farm owner, the local gram panchayat has not initiated any action despite lodging a complaint, Shetty pointed out.

He also said a complaint has also been lodged with Karkala Taluk Panchayat, Police Department and Environment Department but of no avail. He said he would now approach the DC seeking justice.
