Bangalore: The results of the SSLC examination conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board are out.  The state has registered a pass percentage of 81.9 per cent.

Chikkodi district has topped the list followed by Sirsi and Belgaum. Bidar district is last in the list even in SSLC results as in case of PUC.

State Education Minister Kimmane Ratnaker who announced the results said as usual girls have gained an upper hand than boys. The results will be available in the Karnataka Education Department website after 12.30 noon.

The Minister informed that around 17 schools registered zero pass percentage. However, no government school is in the list. One aided school too has registered zero pass percentage, while the rest 16 are unaided schools. A total of 2023 schools have registered 100 per cent results, the Minister said.

Addressing the conference, he said that the result this time is better than that of last year; however the number of students who appeared for the exam is lesser. Out of 8, 26,269 students who had applied for the examination, 8, and 13,498 had appeared.

Announcing the student who scored the highest marks, he said, “Nithya Surubhi has obtained the highest marks, 622 out 625 in the State. She is from Marimalapha High School from Mysore.”

With regards to quality in education Bangalore North has obtained the first place, as all other highest pass outs are from that region, followed by Bangalore (south) and Mangalore in second and third spots.

SSLC examinations were held this year between March 28 and April 9. Valuation work was undertaken from April 19 onwards in 314 valuation centres. Around 6,400 teachers were engaged in the work of valuation.

May 28 will be the last date for the students to apply for revaluation of the papers.
