Bantwal : A woman was injured and two houses damaged in lightning strike at Neralakatte and Ananthady villages on April 26, Saturday night.




The electrical wiring of the house of Damodar Acharya of Neralakatte Kempugudde was completely burnt due to lightning strike. All walls of the houses too have developed cracks and electronic appliances damaged.
Damodar’s wife Shobha is in a state of shock following the lightning strike. The loss has been estimated at over Rs 30,000.
A coconut tree located behind the house of Dharnappa Poojari and Pushpa couple at Kombila in Ananthady village was also burnt in lightning strike. Even the electrical wiring of their house was damaged. Family members say they have suffered a loss of Rs 40,000.
An electric pole on the Palace Road near Vittal was razed to the ground due to heavy wind. Electricity supply in the area has been affected.
Tahsildar Malleswami has informed that revenue inspector has been sent to the spot to assess the damage.
