Labourer drowns in River Netravathi

Bantwal: A man hailing from Guruvayanakere  met a watery grave in the Netravathi River on October 2, Wednesday afternoon. It is suspected he slipped and drowned while  he was having a wash.

The deceased is Aboobakker Siddiqui (32), who was engaged in the task of constructing a compound wall near a tourist guest house.  It is learnt, Aboobakker had planned to go to a nearby mosque after having a wash but  was eventually drowned. Though locals rushed to the spot it was of no avail as he had drowned by then. The fire service personnel  though were informed, they arrived almost after an hour agitating the locals. The body was traced  in the evening.

Bantwal police have registered a case.
