Mangalore: Urging the state and Central governments to allot mining areas to KIOCL, the activists of Kudremukh Shram Shakthi Sanghatan (KSSS), in association with the district Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS) staged a massive protest and day-long hunger strike on Monday December 23.

A protest rally was also organized which culminated in front of the DC office where the members went on a day-long hunger strike.
Sureshchandra Shetty, President of KSSS, said, “KIOCL lost its distinct mines at Kudremukh in 2006 due to the Supreme Court’s verdict. Pseudo environmentalists have acted heavily to close down the company that lived worthy of its entity in all aspects. Since then, none of the elected governments in the state have shown any interest in allotting mines in Karnataka for the revival of the company.”
Venkataraya, legal advisor, said, “Under these circumstances, as a responsible trade union in the company, we have decided to put a full stop to these contemptible occurrences in the interest of the company and nation.”
Leaders Mohammed Rafiq, Ashok Shetty, Rajguru, Kuber Shetty, and Suresh Babu were present.
