Mangaluru: Special arrangement Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy and Minister for Forests B. Ramanatha Rai.

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Saturday said the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) would focus on improving transport facilities in rural areas.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone for a bus depot at Sullia near here, Mr. Reddy said making profit was not the sole motto of the corporation — discharging its social obligation too was the corporation’s priority.

Mr. Reddy said the KSRTC would operate more buses in areas where people solely depended on its bus services for commuting. Besides, the corporation would commence city bus services in all district headquarters and other cities. He said only the southern part of the country had a good public transport system.
