Sullia: The long-standing dream of the citizens of Sullia is going to be realised soon as the new KSRTC bus depot will be fully operational within three months according to local MLA Angara.

After inspecting the work in progress of the depot at Karyathodi in the midst of the natural greenery along with a team of officials from KSRTC, PWD, taluk Panchayath and public today, he said that the work is likely be completed within 3 months.
The work on the main building, staff rooms, rest rooms, vehicle washing zone, security enclosures, fuel depot and bus parking area concretization is in progress. The new depot will help in providing additional buses to people in rural areas in and around Sullia town. Around 7 acres of land was allotted for the project in the beginning out of which 3 acres are being utilized for the construction activity. The remaining 4 acres will be used for expansion in the future for which a proposal will be submitted to the State government.
Angara during his visit instructed the local PWD engineers to conduct a survey to widen the road to the depot which is off Madikeri-Sullia State highway. He also instructed them to provide adequate water to the new facility.
Sullia town is surrounded by a lot of small villages with road connectivity but lack of good public transport. Once the new depot becomes operational, the number of buses is likely to increase to nearby locations and even buses to distant places may operate from the depot to ease the traffic in the existing main stand.
The moment is not far for all the villagers living around Sullia town to heave a sigh of relief as their long-standing dream is likely to be realised within 3 months.
