Uppinangady : A KSRTC bus which was on way to Bangalore via Subrahmanya left at least eight persons who were waiting for the bus at Perne injured, when it plunged into the bus shelter on July 29, Monday.
Most of the injured were students of the Sri Ramachandra PU College, Perne. The accident took place when the Mangalore-Subrahmanya-Bangalore KSRTC bus tried to overtake a private bus which had stopped at Perne to drop some passengers. But the efforts of the KSRTC bus driver went awry when he took the bus to the extreme end of the road to avert collision with a vehicle from the opposite direction. In the process, the KSRTC bus had rammed into the bus shelter injuring eight persons. Fearing public fury, the driver and conductor of the bus escaped from the scene of the accident.
The injured include Vinutha, Nishmitha, Hemanth, Ashika and Suhaib, students of the Sri Ramachandra PU College, Perne, Sanku, the college staff, Meenakshi and Mohammad. Luckily, all of them are said to be out of danger.
