Moodbidri : The prime accused in the Moodbidri Siddantha Darshana Mandir theft case in Moodbidri, has been sent to police custody for ten days. The prime accused named Santosh Das alias Ghanashyam of Bhubaneshwar (34) who was arrested at Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh was brought to Moodbidri on Monday and produced before the local court.

He was also taken to the place to the Guru Basadi and around and also the place where the theft took place in order to elicit information on the manner in which he committed the theft. Reports said the accused has made contradictory statements and has failed to give any clear-cut information to the police.
There are also reports that the police have enquired the manager of the Jain Mutt. However, there is no much information in this regard.
The burglary case wherein antique idols worth several crores of rupees were stolen, has been making much news since the past few days. The police have already arrested Santosh’s wife and father-in-law from Bhubaneshwar on the charges of abetting the crime. Some of the stolen idols were seized from the house while one kg of gold was found in the bank locker of Santosh.
