Mangaluru: Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association (KSGA) will stage a symbolic protest regarding the difference in salaries of State and Central government employees at the Mini Vidhana Soudha premises, Mangaluru, on June 2.
They will submit a request letter to the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah through the Deputy Commissioner.
Speaking at Press Club, Mangaluru, association president Prakash Nayak, said that the State government employee unions have been protesting from a long time for equal salaries between Central and State government employees. As many as 24 states’ employees across the country have same salary and allowances as the Central government employees.
“There are 2.70 lakh vacancies in various departments of the State government. They employ one single employee for all the tasks. And don’t even provide monetary compensation,” he said.
Nayak said that a delegation from KSGA had earlier met and requested the CM to look into the issue during three budget sessions.
“All the times the CM assured assistance. But nothing was done,” he added.
Vice-president P K Krishna, treasurer Gopalakrishna and State Legislative Council member Dolphy Sequiera were present.
