Konkani Loses Eminent Writer: Ronald Sequeira No More

On Monday, May 6, Ronald Sequeira, also known as “Sikeram Surathkal,” a renowned Konkani writer and president of the KWAA, passed away. He was seventy. After receiving medical attention, Sequeira passed away in the wee hours of the morning.

Sequeira, a well-known author in Konkani literature, presided over the Konkani Writers’ and Artists’ Association (KWAA) and made significant contributions to the field of culture throughout his lifetime.Renowned for his extensive understanding of Konkani language and culture, Sequeira was a lighthouse in the literary world, actively taking part in and planning a number of Konkani literary events. He received national recognition and affection for his unshakable commitment to the promotion and preservation of Konkani heritage.

Sequeira’s celebrated collection of engrossing short stories, “Garjek Podath,” which encapsulated the spirit of Konkani life and culture, was a testament to his literary prowess. His moving poetry and vivid storytelling struck a deep chord with readers, making him a highly regarded figure in Konkani literature.

Apart from his literary achievements, Sequeira was loved for his kind disposition and kind heart, which made him likable to everyone he came into contact with. He became a well-liked figure in literary circles and beyond because of his warmth and humility, which left a lasting impression on everyone he came into contact with.
