Konkani Natak Sabha celebrates 71st Anniversary

Mangalore: Konkani Natak Sabha celebrated its 71st Anniversary on 5th October 2014 at Don Bosco Hall, here.

Ivan D’Souza, MLC, Karnataka presided over the programme. Walter Nandalike, Editor in chief of Daijiworld.com and Thomas Sequeira, Media Team Leader of UdupiToday.com (Abudabhi) were the chief guests.

President of KNS Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza, Vice President Dolphy Saldanha, General Secretary Sunil Menezes, Joint Secretary Jerry Pinto and Treasurer Prem Lobo were on the dais.

Antony Samuel (Tony Rujai) was felicitated on the occasion for his services rendered to Konkani theatre. Acknowledging the honour he thanked Konkani Natak Sabha for honouring him and also called the youngsters to come forward to build Konkani art, culture and literature. He also remembered his Guru, Narayana Master on the occasion.

CGS Taccode and Dolla Mangalore were also felicitated on behalf of Konkani Natak Sabha by chief guest Walter Nandalike.

Ivan D’Souza in his address said, “I will take the responsibility of setting up a Konkani Natak Academy since I am seeking permission to enable the  Konkani Sahitya Academy have its own building, and will try to accommodate the Konkani Natak Academy in the same building. I will also try to release fund to build new Don Bosco hall and the same should be ready when KNS celebrates its 75 years. He assured that he will fight for Konkani and also speak in Konkani during the coming session at Belagavi’’. He wished all success to the artists of ‘Zana Saglo Gaavn’ play.

Thomas Sequeira in his address wished success to the artists of ‘Zana Saglo Gaavn’ and congratulated the Konkani Natak Sabha and said that when the play was first staged in Mumbai, he was the chief guest. He thanked KNS for inviting him as the guest of honour for its 71st anniversary.

President of KNS Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza welcomed the gathering; Vice President Dolphy Saldanha presented the annual report, General Secretary Sunil Menezes proposed vote of thanks. CGS, Taccode compered the programme.

‘Zana Saglo Gaavn’ written by Joker Cascia (late Joaquim D’Souza) directed by Dolla Mangalore was staged by popular young and old artists.
