Kattige Muhurtha performed at Udupi Kaniyoor Mutt

Udupi : Kattige Muhurtha, a ritual of stocking ample quantity of fire wood  in preparation for the next Paryaya scheduled to be held in January 2014 was performed at Udupi Kaniyoor Mutt on July 14, Sunday.

The firewood or Kattige was taken in a procession from Kaniyoor Mutt to Sri Krishna Mutt. The procession was accompanied by chende team and hundreds of devotees. The Kaniyoor Seer Sri Vidyavallabha Theertha Swamiji later performed Akki Muhurtha, also a pre-Paryaya ritual and also planted  banana plants.

The fire wood has been stocked at the Mutt in the shape of the chariot of the Mutt. The same would be utilized to cook prasadam and food for the devotees during the two year Paryaya period of the Kaniyoor seer.

Raghupathi, Diwan of Kaniyoor Mutt, Nagaraj Bhat, Manager and others were present on the occasion. Bhatha Muhurtha which is also a ritual to be held prior to the Paryaya will be performed in December this year.
