Mangalore : Karnataka Bank Ltd has bagged the popular IDRBT Banking Technology Excellence Awards for 2012-13, among small banks, under the following categories: Best bank award for managing IT risks; and best bank award for use of IT for business innovation. D Subba Rao, Governor, Reserve Bank of India presented the awards at a function held at Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology, Hyderabad.
P Jayarama Bhat, managing director and CEO of the bank received the awards on behalf of the bank. P Jairama Hande, general manager IT and MIS and CFO accompanied the MD. “These awards demonstrate Karnataka Banks commitment to maintaining global standards of safety and security in the use of IT and also making the best and innovative use of the same to enhance the levels of customer service and satisfaction, said Jayarama Bhat receiving the award.
It may be recalled that the bank had earlier bagged the special award for managing IT risk, instituted by IDRBT, in 2011 and coveted ISO 27001:2005 certificate of registration from National Quality Assurance for the banks IT set up in 2012. The Bank is into its 90th year of banking and eyeing a business turnover of Rs 78,000 crore for the current fiscal. The Bank with a network of 1,097 service outlets is poised to increase this number to 1200 by the end of this fiscal.
