
Mangaluru: A total of 13 outstanding workers, who have done significant achievements in various sectors were presented Karmika Samman awards at Town Hall on Friday, March 1.
The achievers who awarded are Sujatha Jogi, Babu Moolya, Padmanabh, Raghav Achary, Devendra Naik, Somanna Achary, Jayanthi, Chandrahas, Francis, Praveen, C K Ashok Kumar, Sudhakar and Krishnappa.
After presenting the award, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister U T Khader promised of trying his best for relaxing the guidelines which prevent workers from receiving benefits from labour insurance scheme. ” Every citizen has the right to receive the government facilities and complex procedures need to be amended, ensuring no beneficiary is denied government facilities. If the various government schemes are implemented properly without any hiccups, then the development will be possible”, he opined.
Assistant Labour Commissioner K B Nagaraj informed that the Labour Welfare Board has collected a total of Rs 7,500 crore through its labour cess which will be disbursed for the welfare of the unorganised workers.
