Karkala : The Karkala rural police who raided a place at  Tellaru Indrabailu in Durga village of Karkala taluk, have seized huge quantity of Ammonium Nitrate from a Keralite. The raid followed a tip off and the value of the seized Ammonium Nitrate is estimated at Rs 1.25 lakhs.

The arrested man is Biju, a Keralite who stayed in Karkala. The man had several complaints against him even in the past and police on various earlier occasions had booked him after seizing explosives.

There is an allegation that he had  stocked   tonnes of Ammonium Nitrate in his house at Ajekar in Karkala and that he was supplying the explosives for stone quarries in various places of the taluk.

The latest raid was conducted as part of a precautionary measures in the wake of the upcoming elections.
